Understanding Autism
Autism is a neurological disorder that falls under the umbrella of Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD), and includes Asperger's Syndrome, Rett's Disorder, Child Disintegrative Disorder and Pervasive Disability Disorder, Not Otherwise Specified. Autism can range from mild to severe, and many times the parent may be aware of differences from birth, while some children develop normally and then suffer a regression placing them on the Autism Spectrum.

Children with Autism typically have underdeveloped Speech and Sensory issues, which may include sensitivity to noises, light, aversions to textures, tactile defensiveness and vestibular issues.

Due to the lack of verbal communication, children with Autism may resort to hand leading or outbursts when their needs are not met. Fortunately, these issues can be treated using different techniques and approaches, keeping in mind that early and consistent intervention is the key to a child’s success.
If you suspect Autism in your little one, or know of a family who is concerned about the development of their child, ACT Now Nevada can help you obtain the informational resources needed to begin treatment, and help guide you through the intervention process. If your child already has an ASD diagnosis, we can help you to ensure they are receiving the appropriate services, while providing additional information to you regarding the treatment of Autism.
